We listened to our agent. We cleaned the house, we waxed the
floors, we cleaned the ceiling light fixtures, we got everything
out of the house except the necessities, we refinished moldings
and doors, we repainted, we did it all. We also cleaned up
the yard and planted some nice flowering trees, added a large
front porch and leveled out the yard and added additional grass
seed to fill in the brown and dried patches. We worked for
three months preparing our house to be shown and spent about $300
(mostly on the trees).
We also spent a great deal of time fixing up the backyard to make
it more attractive. We didn't do as much as we could have,
but if you need to sell your house in a hurry a little "sprucing
up" can go a long way to achieving your goal of a quick sale.
We put our house on the market on September 29, 2005. On
September 30, 2005, we had two showings and the next day we
received a full price offer. That's right, no haggling, no
negotiating; we got exactly what we listed the house for.
Our house sold in TWO DAYS all because we listened to our agent
and did the work required to make our house stand out.
